Australian independent designer Nicki Derrick has launched her namesake label of chic womenswear to the Melbourne market.

Featuring modern designs for the modern woman, the range of versatile resort wear offers luxurious comfort teamed with timeless elegance.Designer Nicki Derrick said her label was well‐suited to the Melbourne woman. “Nicki Derrick The Label perfect for working women like me who travel a lot and want clothes that look great while being comfortable and versatile,” she said. “From a busy day at the office to an after‐work cocktail party, Nicki Derrick is designed to suit any occasion.”

Ms Derrick created the label around the adage that women wear 20% of their wardrobe 80% of the time. “I don’t base my designs around trends. Instead my focus is on timeless style, fit, and wearability; I want my customers to be able to wear their designs time and time again.
“It’s all very versatile, so they can mix and match the pieces, as well as create new looks with what they’ve already got in their wardrobe.”

The fourth collection of the label, the latest for Spring/Summer 2013, features pants, tops and skirts that are relaxed yet sophisticated, with a splash of bold colour for the adventurous. As part of the independent fashion movement, Nicki Derrick supports the local fashion industry, with all designs manufactured here in Australia to ensure the highest quality. They are also personally assured by the designer herself. “I always try the fabrics and styles to test they are comfortable and wearable. I wear my own designs frequently to ensure I’m making the best possible product. If I love it and enjoy wearing it, I know my customers will too.”

Now available at select independent online stores, Nicki Derrick is also stocking in‐store at Melbourne’s home of style, Gusto & Élan (181 Brunswick St, Fitzroy www.gustoandelan.com.au)
