Born in Costa Rica into an artistic Italian family, Valeria Bergna is the creative force behind Veja Mate. The idea for Veja Mate was conceived while working at Ford Models Artists division.
Valeria moved to New York after graduating with a degree in advertising design and working on major advertising campaigns for Latin America.

With a fashion studies degree from Parsons School of Design under her belt, New York offered the designer the opportunity to gain first-rate design, editorial and fashion styling experience with magazines such as Allure and major fashion labels Carolina Herrera, Marc Jacobs and Lanvin.
As a result of her bi-cultural background, Valeria was exposed early on to both the elegant, age-old concepts of Italian design and the organic, lush, natural elements of the Costa Rican landscape. Still in school, Ms. Bergna’s keen sense of composition and color flourished when she hand produced her first jewelry line ISTMO, which she sold to tourists and the surfing communities of the Cost Rican coastline.
Valeria is always on the lookout for objects that capture her imagination; artifacts that produce recurring and engaging emotions she can recreate in her jewelry. Ms. Bergna’s vision for the Veja Màte brand is to create exceptionally constructed jewelry that will empower those who wear them by evoking specific and pleasant emotions of well being.
