fashionPR.com: A little about yourself:

The two "titles" that are most important to me are Founder of Avenue Public Relations in Palm Beach, Florida and Mom to my 3 year old son, John. Every other title under that goes something like this: part-time runner, avid reader, theatre enthusiast, amateur pianist and sometime travel/fashion editor for Palm Beach Society Magazine and Mr. and Mrs. Smith Hotels.

fashionPR.com: Where did you work before founding your FashionPR firm?:

Vogue US, Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Orlando Shakespeare Festival, University of Florida and University of Tampa.

fashionPR.com: Why did you start your fashion PR firm ?:

The truth is I wanted the flexibility and the opportunity to work with whomever I chose to work with. I like having the ability to choose clients based on my belief in them and their talents. I don't just take on clients for revenue. There has to be a chemistry together.

fashionPR.com: A little about your company:

Avenue Public Relations is a boutique firm in Palm Beach, FL with an office in Paris, France as well. We specialize in fashion and beauty clients located in Europe who are seeking a presence in the US market. I love finding new talent, new faces and bringing them to Editors in the US who are searching for the next big thing!

fashionPR.com: How many hours you rougly work per week?:

At least 40. Sometimes more , sometimes less... just depends.

fashionPR.com: What do you find interesting about fashion pr ?:

It's definitely an always changing, dynamic industry to be in. Keeps me young!

fashionPR.com: What do you think the core competitiveness for fashion pr company ?:

Having strong relationships with Editors is very important. And, as I said before, truly believing in your clients is key. If I can't get in front of an Editor and REALLY love what I'm pitching, it will never work.

fashionPR.com: What are the key skills to being a great fashion pr ?:

People skills, of course. Patience, having a good eye and believing anything is possible.

fashionPR.com: What should a new designer expect from a fashion pr ?:

I think they should expect detailed reports on what their fashion pr agency is trying to achieve for them and they should expect their account manager to be available to them . Emails should be answered and phone calls returned the same day they are received.

fashionPR.com: How to chose a fashion pr ?:

Chemistry. It's a relationship, so choose someone you like, someone you are comfortable with and someone you can trust with the vision of your company.

fashionPR.com: What part of your job do you find the most challenging ?:

I truly love everything about what I do.

fashionPR.com: How do you bring new brands into your agency ?:

So far, it's been by word of mouth. I've been very blessed with referrals.

fashionPR.com: How has the new media landscape changed how you do business ?:

Well..... it's not boring that's for sure! Mast Heads change daily nowadays...

fashionPR.com: How do you demonstrate results for your clients ?:

I think clients simply want placements. And we try everyday to get them visibility whether it's print, online, tv, radio.... clients want to be seen and heard.

fashionPR.com: How do you maintain sustainable relationships with the media ?:

By respecting their deadlines, respecting the word , "no" and trying to bring them exactly what they want, every time.

fashionPR.com: How to know what a publication or stylist wants?:

Sometimes they tell you!!! Which is great! Other times, it's just instinct. And sometimes...plain old luck!

fashionPR.com: What do you think the future of digital fashion media/pr is?:

Wow. That's a tough one. It's hard to imagine the digital aspect of what we do getting any larger, but it seems to progress everyday. I think the future of digital is absolutely endless.

fashionPR.com: Are there busy and quiet periods during the year?:

Believe it or not, summer is always busy because the print people are working on FALL!!! There truly isn't a "slow time" though that I know of.

fashionPR.com: What makes a great brand or label stand out?:

True talent always stands out. It's so amazing and fulfilling to find people who just have "it."

fashionPR.com: Are many of your friends fashion PRs ?:

Yes! A few.

fashionPR.com: What would you recommend to college graduate to help start their career?:

Intern. Intern. Intern.

fashionPR.com: Please list 3 designers who you like the most:
